German Embassy Green Economy Cycle (GEGEC) continues with in-depth technical training for Solar-Hybrid Minigrids in Rural Kenya

The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Nairobi, Kenya, together with its partners facilitated an In-Depth Technical Training on Solar Hybrid Mini-grids at Strathmore Business School Nairobi on January 24th and 25th, 2018. The two day Training focused on specifically applicable designs, components, and technologies for the construction of Solar Hybrid Mini-grids in rural/ remote areas of Kenya.

In pursuit of more ecological and at the same time affordable carbon neutral energy solutions for all Kenyans, both in urban and rural areas, Solar Hybrid solutions have gained momentum. To secure the necessary technical resilience even in regions, which are difficult to access, excellency in design, components and installation is required. During the two days, German solar business practitioners shared their expertise by explaining and show-casing state of the art technology, market applications, and best practice examples. More than 70 engineers and technicians from companies engaged in solar applications participated.

The Technical Training was set-up within “German Embassy Green Economy Cycle (GEGEC)”, a series of events that aims at promoting the application of innovative business practices and technologies in order to reduce the environmental footprint of economic activities.
