Transition Period to be extended for two weeks to 01/10/2018

All imports consigned to a Port of Entry in Kenya are required to undergo Pre-Shipment Verficiation and be issues with the requisite Certificate of Conformity, as specified in Legal Notice No. 127 of 19th June 2018 which revoked Legal Notice No. 78 of 15th July, 2005.

The originally set date for which this ruling applied was 15th September 2018. In order to allow all players within the value-chain sufficient time to put in place the measures necessary for full compliance, the Head of Public Service of the Executive Office of the President ordered the Kenya Revenue Authority and Kenya Bureau of Standards to extend this transition period by two weeks, to at least 1st October 2018.

Importers and the General Public were informed that goods loaded on or after 1st October 2019 will be expected ti fully comply with the provision of the Legal Notice.
