Second Kenyan-German Water and and Waste Water Week 2017

By participating in the workshops of the 2nd Kenyan-German Water and Wastewater week, taking place from October 9th to 13th 2017, Kenyan stakeholders of the water and wastewater sector can build capacity in technical aspects and related business skills from the know-how conveyed during the workshops.

Target Group of Participants

The sessions have a distinct focus on technical capabilities and aim to bringing benefits to managing level, engineers and technical staff of

  • Water and wastewater companies and contractors,
  • Water service and technology/ equipment providers,
  • Water utilities.

The Kenyan-German Water Week 2017, as well as the first edition in 2016, forms part of the Export Initiative Environmental Technologies of the German Federal Ministry of Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB).

Water Week 2017 succesfully finished!

The 2nd Kenyan German Water and Waste Water Week took place from October 9th to 13th, 2017. More than 200 Kenyan representatives from private businesses, utilities, public sector and non-governmental organizations and academia gained insight into state of the art know-how.

Kenyan stakeholders of the water and wastewater sector benefited greatly from the technological know-how conveyed during the workshops conducted by the presenting German specialists. German experts participating in this week had the unique opportunity to liaise with Kenyan technicians, experts and water/ wastewater industry professionals in order to strengthen business and capacity developing relationships and enhance already existing contacts.

First Kenyan German Water Week 2016

The First Kenyan-German Water Week in October 2016 welcomed in six workshops more than 200 participants from the Kenyan water industry (water contractors and technology providers, utilities, government and institutions, construction and food processing industry). Last year’s inception has been graced by Hon. Eugene L. Wamalwa EGH, Cabinet Secretary, and Prof. Fred H. K. Segor, Principal Secretary, of the Ministry of Water and Irrigation of the Republic of Kenya, as well as H. E. Jutta Frasch, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of German in Kenya. The Water Week has received wide attention in the Kenyan media.

The Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Kenya (AHK Kenya) is organizing this event on behalf of the BMUB together with both German and Kenyan partners:

The German Water Partnership (GWP) e. V., the leading German water and wastewater association with a focus on technology export, has shown great commitment in organizing a business delegation trip from Kenya to Germany in March 2017 and a year earlier a German booth at the annual conference and exhibition of the African Water Association (AfWA) in Nairobi. Engaged as Kenyan and additional partners are the Kenya Water Institute (KEWI), the African Water Association (AfWA), the International Water Management Institute (IWMI), the Kenya Water Industry Association (KWIA), the Small-Scale Drillers Association of Kenya (SSDAK), the Kenya Water Service Providers Association (WASPA), Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) and the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA).
