The Delegation of German Industry and Commerce for Eastern Africa, via its service entity AHK Services Eastern Africa Ltd. organized a digital delegation trip on the topic of Renewable Energy and Energy Infrastructure to Rwanda and Uganda. The delegation trip was implemented in cooperation with the Renewables Academy (RENAC) AG, on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) within the framework of the German Energy Solutions Initiative.
Within the project, digital conferences were conducted, on 28 February 2022 for Rwanda and on 2 March 2022 for Uganda. Following the conferences, individual B2B meetings were organized between the participating 6 German companies and potential business partners throughout the week.
The purpose of the conference and the B2B meetings, was to encourage an exchange on the latest technological developments, including business opportunities present in renewable energy and energy infrastructure sector in the two Eastern African countries.
The virtual conferences brought together key industry players from both private sector and government with German companies and experts in the Renewable Energy and Energy Infrastructure. The speakers from the German side included Maren Diale-Schellschmidt, Delegate of German Industry, the German Embassies, Christoph Wunsch, RENAC, Hendrik Hundhausen, GIZ, and Lars Waldmann, President, European Institute for Energy Technology.
Local experts presenting were from the Rwandan Ministry of Infrastructure, the Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority (RURA), the Rwandan Energy Utility Corporation Limited (EUCL), the Ugandan Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (MEMD), Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) and the Uganda Electricity Generation Company Ltd. (UEGCL).
The digital event also provided a platform for the visiting 6 German companies to present their products and solutions for the sector. Here you can access the list of the companies.
