Fact-Finding Mission for Tanzanian, Rwandan and Ugandan energy experts on the topic of Energy Efficiency in Buildings to Germany, from 3rd to 6th of May 2022

11/02/2022

AHK Services Eastern Africa Limited, the service entity at the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce for Eastern Africa, in cooperation with the Renewables Academy AG (RENAC), offers a 4-day fact-finding mission for energy experts from Tanzanian, Rwandan and Uganda on the topic of Energy Efficiency in Buildings to Germany, from 3rd to 6th of May 2022.

Approximately 56% of the total national electricity consumption in Africa is used in buildings. Combined with the high East African urbanization rate of 4.5% per year, energy efficiency, especially in the building sector, plays an increasingly central role in securing the need for electricity. The fact-finding mission will enable the delegates to gather first-hand information about technologies for energy efficient solutions in buildings made in Germany and to establish business contacts with German companies. The fact-finding Mission is part of the German Energy Solutions Initiative supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action.

Interested experts from Tanzania, Rwanda and Uganda are invited to apply to participate in the program until March, 18th 2022. Due to a limited number of available spots, the organizers reserve the right to select interested participants, who will be informed of their acceptance in due time. Participation for the program is free of charge. However, please note that visa, traveling, accommodation and meals are the responsibility of the participant. Living costs while in Germany can be estimated at 150 Euros per day.

On May 3rd, 2022, a kick-off event with network meetings will take place in Berlin. In a series of presentations by German experts and multipliers in the field of energy efficiency, the delegates will gather practical information on current market trends, key market players and the latest technologies. In addition, German technology providers will be invited to present their efficiency solutions. On, May 4th to 6th, the delegates will visit reference projects, by companies and research facilities in Berlin and surrounding areas, showcasing technology solutions, production insights and technology applications. The participants will learn about the specific challenges and solutions concerning the design of framework conditions, gain insight on standards/norms and look at implementation examples.
