Conference on Captive Energy in Kenya Organized by AHK Services Eastern Africa

On September 11, 2023, AHK Services Eastern Africa, in partnership with Renewables Academy AG (RENAC), organized a conference on Renewable Energy for Captive Use in Industry and Commerce as part of the German Energy Solutions Initiative's Energy Trade Mission on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK). With participation from over 90 attendees, the conference provided a valuable platform for key stakeholders in the captive energy sector, bringing together representatives from both Germany and Kenya to delve into potential partnership opportunities.

Maren Diale-Schellschmidt, Delegate of German Industry and Commerce for Eastern Africa, inaugurated the conference. We were honoured to have distinguished speakers at the conference: H.E. Alexander Fierley, Deputy Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Kenya, Wesley Kipyego, representing the Office of the CS Energy and Petroleum, and George Aluru, the CEO of the Electricity Sector Association of Kenya (ESAK). Also, the following German experts addressed the participants: Berthold Breid, CEO of RENAC, Dr. Christian Neugebauer from the German Renewable Energy Federation (Bundesverband Erneuerbare Energie e.V.) and Hendrik Hundhausen, Country Manager Kenya, Uganda & Rwanda of GIZ’s Project Development Programme (PDP). Last but not least, all 6 German companies participating in the delegation trip, had the opportunity to present their products and solutions.

In the entire week following the conference, B2B meetings are being organized for the six German participating companies: Asantys Systems GmbH, IBC SOLAR South Africa (Pty) Ltd., Megger GmbH, NOTUS energy, nOa climate GmbH and SUNSET Energietechnik GmbH.
