Key stakeholders discussed Circular Economy in Kampala, On the 29th of February 2024

On the 29th of February, AHK Services Eastern Africa Ltd, in collaboration with Afrika-Verein der deutschen Wirtschaft (German - African Business Association), organized a conference at the Protea by Marriott Hotel in Kampala, Uganda. The event aimed to delve into business prospects within the Circular Economy sector in Uganda, the second stop of the delegation`s visit to Eastern Africa this week.

This conference marked a significant segment of our business delegation under the market exploration initiative for small and medium-sized companies, supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK).

Representatives from 6 German companies showcased their innovative products and solutions: Hans Georg Hinterberger from Achelis Group, Konstantin von Hoerner from BioConvision Ltd, Marco Fiumi from FAUN Group, José Antonio Goncalves from Lucas-Nülle GmbH, Rachel Lutwama from Siemens, and Prince Kimbugwe from Zertric UG.

A line-up of prominent speakers graced the event, featuring German Ambassador Matthias Schauer, Hon. Anywar Beatrice Atim, State Minister for Environment, and Maren Diale-Schellschmidt (Delegate of German Industry & Commerce for Eastern Africa). The conference was also addressed by Christine Zander (Coordination Office for the Africa Business Network ), Asmau Nitardy from our project partner Afrika-Verein der deutschen Wirtschaft (German - African Business Association), and presentations from local sector experts: Allan Ssesnyondwa, from Uganda Manufacturers Association, Andrew Bownds of the Ugandan Recycling Association, Dr. Robert Mukiza, Director General of Uganda Investment Authority 

Following the conference, two days were dedicated to B2B meetings and a reception at the German Ambassador’s Residence, providing ample opportunities for direct business discussions and networking.
