We are delighted to look back at a successful delegation trip with an impactful conference on "Energy Efficiency in the Building Sector", that took place on the 27th of November 2023 in Kampala – Uganda (with live stream to Rwanda), spearheaded by the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce for Eastern Africa (AHK Eastern Africa) in collaboration with Renewables Academy (RENAC) AG. This project is implemented on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) within the framework of the German Energy Solutions Initiative. 6 German companies from the Energy Efficiency sector took part in the delegation trip. With over 120 attendees (both physical and virtual), the conference brought together a diverse array of industry players, creating a platform for dialogue on the latest technological advancements and business prospects within the energy efficiency landscape.

We were honored to have distinguished key note speakers at the conference: Hon. Okaasai Sidronius Opolot, Minister of State for Energy, Republic of Uganda, H.E. Matthias Schauer, German Ambassador to Uganda and Angelika Farhan – Reimpell, Head of the Coordination Office for German Energy Solutions Initiative. Further experts contributing were Ronnie Ssejjuko from the - Energy Development of GGGI, Elvis Ssekate from the Energy Efficiency Association of Uganda, Yves Sangwa from the Rwanda Green Building Organization and Sabine Giglmeier, from the Department of Hygrothermics at the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics IBP. Hanna Dittmeyer, Head of Competence Center for Energy, Environment and Sustainable Economy at AHK Eastern Africa moderated the conference. The focal point of both the conference and the subsequent program pints was the interaction between six esteemed German solution providers and the vibrant Ugandan and Rwandan private and public sector in Energy Efficiency. Following the conference, B2B meetings were organized for the six German participating companies: enPower.life Germany GmbH, Hansen Architekten, iproplan® Planungsgesellschaft mbH, Megger Germany GmbH, Reinhardt GmbH and Wilo East Africa Limited.
